The credits run and the music fades as the screen darkens. I do not move. I seem to be riveted to my seat as my brain tries to absorb what I have just seen. A full length, hand painted movie. Loving Vincent is a beautiful experience and right then I resolved to find a way of buying my very own Van Gogh masterpiece.
O yeah right…! is my very next thought. However, not to be deterred by my poverty, I begin my quest and am surprised at how
quickly I am rewarded. There is actually a website called Van Gogh Studio.com and I am so excited as I fumble with the keys. It is really true. They do have artists who recreate the original canvasses of Vincent VanGogh ! Best of all-“budget friendly”. I will preface this by admitting that I am a “Pig Collector” from way back, and I received a Birthday card which depicted VanGogh’s
“Pigs in Iris Fields”on the front. I chose this as “My Own Van Gogh” and the result is spectacular. It’s not as famous as the other iris paintings but it is perfect for me. I see it every day as I descend my stairs in the morning and I smile. Rich purples, gentle lavender and blues with touches of soft orange completely surround my “piggies” as they contentedly munch their way through the garden. What a scene to contemplate the sweeter and gentler times in our hectic lives.
I am so happy to have my masterpiece and rarely, if ever, remember that it didn’t cost 60 million dollars. I don’t think I realized
how much joy it would bring into our home. When family and friends drop by, I notice they seem to sit where they “can sneak a
peek” every now and then. Or… maybe it’s just a “pride of ownership” thing….
